1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using SleepSleuth ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the App.

2. Description of the App

SleepSleuth is a free macOS menu bar utility that monitors power assertions — system-level flags that prevent your Mac from sleeping. The App displays which processes hold these assertions and provides tools to investigate or terminate them.

The App provides the ability to view and, for user-owned processes, terminate processes on your Mac. You acknowledge and agree that:

Terminating processes may result in data loss or unexpected behavior in other applications.
The App reads system-level information using Apple’s public APIs and presents it as-is. We make no guarantees about the completeness or accuracy of this information.
You are solely responsible for any actions you take based on information provided by the App.

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL THE AUTHORS OR COPYRIGHT HOLDERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES, OR OTHER LIABILITY, WHETHER IN AN ACTION OF CONTRACT, TORT, OR OTHERWISE, ARISING FROM, OUT OF, OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE APP OR THE USE OR OTHER DEALINGS IN THE APP. THIS INCLUDES, WITHOUT LIMITATION, ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES.

7. System Requirements

SleepSleuth requires macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later. We do not guarantee compatibility with future macOS versions or non-Apple hardware.

8. Updates

The App does not auto-update. New versions are released through the Mac App Store. We are under no obligation to provide updates, patches, or new features.

9. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it from your Mac. We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the App at any time without notice.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms of Use at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law, without regard to conflict of law principles.
